UC Berkeley Botanical Garden

"Green Gala; Fashion Show and Garden Party"

June 18th, 2011

http://greengala.tumblr.com/

The second fundraiser for the U.C. Botanical Gardens began with a fashion show featuring bay area designers using sustainabl practices and materials in their work. The stunning dark linear shapes of the redwood grove emphasized connection to nature that informed the pieces created by Angelina for this show. Shape and colors inspired by the madrone tree; a rustic hemp skirt and pants and felt wool gators evoked the connection between turn of the century outdoor explorers and garments from the Tibetan plateau to the Japanese indigo fields. Experimental iterations of the itajime technique used plant materials and cut madder root dyed fabric scrap for their contact printing properties.
