Angelina will teach a one day workshop:

"Monoprint Resist with Plant dyes using itajime Resist technique"

We will explore the dye resist technique “itajime”, using this folding and binding method to create your own scarf.
Participants will gather a plant leaf, frond or some material and create a monoprint resist using plant dyed wood blocks.
The dyed blocks will transfer through the layers of silk, making a repeated pattern with a subtle and surprising botanical pattern,
as we over dye with another natural dye in our workshop.

please register through the UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens

Tribal Arts Show 2013

Special Exhibit: Saami and Kantha; the fabled stitched quilts of Sind and Bengal

collection of John Gillow

display artistic direction by Angelina DeAntonis

The 27th Annual San Francisco Tribal & Textile Arts show will debut a unique collection of stitched quilts from the Indian sub-continent.
'Saami and Kantha - The fabled stitched quilts of Sind and Bengal' will showcase the finest examples of this quilting tradition, the Ralli quilts made by the Saami,
a caste of beggars from the deserts of Sind in Pakistan and the Kanthas quilts from Bengal, (West Bengal in India and Bangladesh).
Made from recycled materials, such as disused clothing or old cloth, the practice of making these quilts has evolved over centuries.
The rare and intricate quilts range from depicting bold, abstract patterns to figurative representations of village life.

"Green Gala; Fashion Show and Garden Party"

June 18th, 2011

http://greengala.tumblr.com/The second fundraiser for the U.C. Botanical Gardens began with a fashion show featuring bay area designers using sustainabl practicesand materials in their work. The stunning dark linear shapes of the redwood grove emphasized connection to nature that informed the pieces created by Angelina for this show. Shape and colors inspired by the madrone tree; a rustic hemp skirt and pants and felt wool gators evoked the connection between turn of the century outdoor explorers and garments from the Tibetan plateau to the Japanese indigo fields. Experimental iterations of the itajime technique used plant materials and cut madder root dyed fabric scrap for their contact printing properties.
